About Catalina...
I have always had an interest in alternative therapies and techniques; always on the look out for what I have coined ‘life friendly’ ways that we can take care of ourselves on a day to day basis – techniques that once mastered we can draw upon whenever and wherever we may need to do so.
My relationship with Autogenic Training/Therapy (AT) started in the early 1980’s shortly after it was first brought to the UK. I was working in the theatre at the time and increasing finding it hard to deal with the stresses and strains that a performers life can be subject to and it was effecting my physical and emotional well being.
I had read an article by Leslie Kenton, one of the first journalistic pioneers to talk about alternative techniques and therapies. She had written a glowing article on the benefits of Autogenic Training, describing it as “probably the most effective simple technique for dealing with stress ever developed in the west”. So I decided to give it a try...and it did what it said on the tin! Here was a techique that was not only cost effective and ultimately non-therapist dependant, but could also be used under virtually any circumstance, and more ofter than not as Kenton said in her article ‘had the effect of eliminating ‘old stresses that had accumulated in the body. ...improved mental and bodily functioning plus the apparently automatic elimination of maladaptive behaviour and psychosomatic symptoms...”.
As a result of the tremendous difference AT had made in my ability to manage my own life I subsequently decided that I wanted to train as a practitioner myself, which I did at the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital.
I continue to be constantly delighted and surprised by the personal changes that clients are able to make in their own lives once they have learnt the technique. I teach on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
